Six injured in reactor blast in a pharma company

Hyderabad: Six workers suffered injuries when two reactors at a pharma company exploded in IDA Bollarum on Friday night. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the fire. Police said the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals.

According to Patancheru DSP Purushotham Reddy, the accident occurred at Amara Pharma Labs on Friday night. “The preliminary information we have is that, six workers suffered injuries. No casualties have been reported and condition of the injured is stable,” the DSP said.

Police said that Amara Pharma Labs is located close to IDA Bollarum police station and the company is into manufacturing of bulk drug intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients.

“We have information that two chemical reactors at the pharma company exploded. There was thick smoke. We are collecting more information on the cause of the blast,” additional SP P Ashok said.
