7 dead after fire triggers blast at pharma factory – Update

Seven people were killed after a fire erupted following a blast at a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Friday.

Several others were left injured and a search operation is underway to trace missing individuals, an official said on Saturday.

Bodies of seven people have been recovered till 7 AM on Saturday.

“These deceased were among the 11 persons who had gone missing after the fire at the factory. Our search operation is still underway to trace the seven persons who are missing,” an official of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said.

Preliminary report suggests that the fire boke out due to short circuit which led to a blast at the factory. The fire led the barrels containing chemicals to explode.
